Most "hosting" is a login and a shrug.
The big-box hosts sell you a control panel and call it a service. When your site goes down at 4pm on a Friday, you open a chat window and explain your problem to someone who has never seen your website before and will not remember it tomorrow.
We run our clients' sites on managed VPS infrastructure through RunCloud — servers we provision, tune and watch ourselves. The person who answers when you call is the person who built the thing. That is the entire difference, and it is a bigger one than twenty dollars a month suggests.
Three ways to do this.
Every plan keeps the site fast, patched, backed up and watched. The only thing that changes is how much of the work lands on your desk.
Hosting
For teams comfortable editing their own site.
server & upkeep only
- Hosting on our fast managed servers
- Routine WordPress, theme & plugin updates
- Routine website backups
- Caching & performance tuning
- Security, malware prevention & removal
- Uptime monitoring
Webmaster
For owners who would rather send an email than log in.
≈ $79/hr on included time
- Everything in Hosting
- 1 hour of site changes each month
- 48-hour turnaround
- Estimate before we start, always
- Additional time at $95/hr
Webmaster Priority
For sites that change weekly — stores, events, listings.
≈ $60/hr on included time
- Everything in Webmaster
- 3 hours of site changes each month
- 24-hour turnaround
- Front of the queue when it matters
- Additional time at $95/hr
How change time works
- We bill against real work — the edits themselves — not against how many separate emails you sent. Batching requests does not cost you anything extra.
- You get an estimate before we start, not a surprise afterward. If a request is bigger than your remaining time, we tell you first.
- Monthly time does not roll over. Additional time is billed at $95/hour, payable on completion.
- Anything structural — a redesign, a new template, a store migration — is quoted as project work rather than drawn from your monthly hours.
The unglamorous parts, handled.
A live WordPress site needs steady attention. That is the half most people discover the hard way.
Managed servers
Provisioned and monitored through RunCloud on infrastructure we control. Your resources are yours — not divided among hundreds of unrelated accounts on the same machine.
Security & malware
Hardened server configuration, active malware prevention, and removal if something does get through. WordPress is the most attacked platform on the web; it needs watching.
Updates & backups
Core, theme and plugin updates applied deliberately and checked afterward — because an unattended auto-update is how a working site breaks overnight. Routine backups behind it.
Caching & uptime
Performance tuning so pages load fast, and uptime monitoring so we usually know before you do. One number to call at 157 Church Street — no tier-one script.
Hosting pairs with our design and development work, and is available on its own for sites we did not build.
Straight answers.
What is the difference between the three plans?
All three include the same hosting, updates, backups, caching, security and uptime monitoring. The difference is change time. Hosting at $20 a month covers the server and its upkeep. Webmaster at $99 adds one hour of site changes each month. Webmaster Priority at $199 adds three hours and moves you to 24-hour turnaround.
What can you get done in an hour?
More than most people expect. Rewriting several paragraphs, swapping a batch of images, updating hours and staff listings, adding a page section, fixing a broken form. We track time against real work, not against how many separate emails you sent.
Does unused time roll over?
No. Monthly change time does not roll over. If you need more in a given month, additional time is billed at $95 per hour with payment due on completion, and we tell you the estimate before starting rather than after.
Do I have to have you build my site to use your hosting?
No. We take on sites we did not build. We review what you have first — if it is carrying malware or running an unsupported version of PHP, we tell you what needs fixing before the move rather than quietly inheriting the problem.
What kind of servers do you use?
Managed VPS infrastructure provisioned and monitored through RunCloud. Your site sits on a server we configure and control, not a shared box packed with hundreds of unrelated accounts. Resources are yours, and when something needs tuning we can actually tune it.
Can I leave and take my site with me?
Yes. You own the site and the intellectual property outright, with no lock-in. If you ever want to move hosts, we hand over a clean export and help the next team get it running.
Do you only work with Connecticut businesses?
Connecticut is home and most of our clients are here, but hosting and webmastering are handled remotely regardless of where you are. Being able to walk into our office at 157 Church Street is a bonus, not a requirement.
Move your site somewhere
someone is watching.
Tell us where the site is hosted now and what has been going wrong. We will tell you plainly whether moving it is worth your time.
